Hand Embroidery
Cross Stitch
Cross stitch uses one stitch formed into small crosses to build up a picture. There are stamped or counted cross stitch kits available or you can create your own picture to transform using embroidery threads. Stamped cross stitch means that the picture is printed onto the fabric and you stitch over the top of it. Counted cross stitch means the fabric is blank and you work out where to stitch the picture! If you would love to have a go at cross stitch but not sure where to start we can supply you with a small kit and either online or in person instruction.
Ribbon embroidery
If you know the basic embroidery stitches and are confident in creating them you can develop your work from 2D to 3D by using ribbon to create the stitches. If you have never tried ribbon embroidery before, we can supply you with a little kit to get you started and some training either online or in person. Hand embroidery can take many forms, once the basic stitches are learned, you can choose the fabric, thread and type of embroidery to create your design. The picture here is of traditional embroidery but there are other types of embroidery that use just one type of stitch - for example; cross stitch, redwork, blackwork etc All are possible once you have learned hand embroidery techniques. We can supply you with a small kit and online or in person tuition to help you get started.
