Quilting

Quilting is the combination of geometrical shapes and fabric attached together. The shapes can be any size and the fabric any colour - it is helpful if the fabric is the same weight as this will improve the look of the finished item. If you are a beginner, you might want to construct your design from a pattern to start with. We provide online and in person support and can provide quilting packs too.

Once you have mastered basic sewing and cutting techniques, you can create your own designs by choosing which shapes to interlock together, the fabric range, thread and size of the work. You could create your own mug rug or a quilt! The choice is entirely yours. If you would like help designing your project or completing it we offer online or in person sessions.

Quilting is so versatile it is fantastic for using up those tiny pieces of fabric or larger pieces too! Quilting can either be completed by hand or on a sewing machine - the project undertaken may decide which is best! Whichever method is chosen, aspects of the work will stand out and this can be enhanced with thread choice.
